William Byrd Tate III passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of December 11, 2022.

Bill was born on December 10, 1949, to William Byrd Tate Jr. and Dorothy Brooks Tate (Dottie). Bill and his brother had a happy life full of adventure, growing up in Tate, GA. Bill graduated from Darlington School in Rome, GA in 1967. Shortly after, he joined the Navy and spent time in Vietnam. Upon returning, he attended Georgia State University where he earned a Bachelor's degree in business administration in 1976. Bill was employed with Big Canoe Realty for many years, until 1986, at which time he opened as owner and broker, Tate Realty Inc. in Marble Hill, GA. In his spare time Bill enjoyed playing golf, hunting, and fishing.

Bill is survived by his wife of 33 years, Cynthia Greene Tate of Big Canoe; brother and sister-in-law, Brooks "Chic" & Jan Tate of Jasper; nephew and his wife, Will & Jordan Tate; two great-nephews and one great-niece.

He will be greatly missed by many friends and family.

A celebration of life will be held on December 20, 2022 from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm in the Mountain View room at Sconti Clubhouse in Big Canoe.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, donate to Big Canoe Animal Rescue.
