Obituary

Billy Brent, born August 15, 1955, in Burbank, California, passed away on February 2, 2026, in Jasper, Georgia. He was a proud graduate of North Springs High School and Georgia State University.

Billy was a larger‑than‑life presence. When he walked into a room, it was all handshakes and warm greetings—always with a kiss on the cheek for the ladies. His charisma, humor, and generous spirit made him unforgettable to everyone who crossed his path.

He spent his career working throughout Atlanta, Georgia, in the hospitality industry, where he made countless friends before retiring in 2019. Billy had a deep love for animals, especially his beloved pups Brandi and Bri. He always dreamed of opening an animal rescue ranch—a vision that reflected his enormous heart.

Billy cherished his life in the North Georgia Mountains, but above all, he cherished his wife of 34 years, Beth Puglisi. Together they built a beautiful, joy‑filled life.

He is survived by his wife, Beth; his sister, Susan; his niece, Shamaya; and his cousins Ed Brent, Anne Wright, Bev Bent, Catherine Brent, Chrissy Thomas, Monica Daniel, Martin Kohnen, Phillip Kohnen, Jennifer Medder, Douglas Myers, and Mary Sakowsky. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Brent and Barbara Myers Brent.

Billy was loved by everyone who knew him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pickens County Animal Rescue or the Atlanta Humane Society—causes close to his heart. Billy has now joined his five beloved dogs over the Rainbow Bridge.

The family will receive friends at Cagle Funeral Home on Saturday, February 7, 2026, from 12:00–2:00 p.m. His funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Robert A. Cagle Memorial Chapel. Billy will be interred at Arlington Cemetery with a private graveside service for family only.
