Obituary

Wilhelmina (Leslie) Kravec
01-29-1924 03-05-2020

Wilhelmina Kravec passed into Heaven Thursday, March 5th, 2020.
The skies wept that afternoon for those she left behind.

A native "Jersey Girl', she was born in Paterson, NJ on January, 29th, 1924. Raised during the Great Depression by Dutch parents, Harry and Anna Leslie along with six siblings; Jim, Ruth, Harold, AnnaMae, Catherine and Bernard (all of whom have passed before her) they were poor but rich in traditions and prided themselves in being kind, honest, clean and educated.

She met her love, Peter Kravec ,WWII Army Lieutenant, and they married on Christmas Eve 1941. Pete and Willie (as he affectionately nicknamed her) had 63 wonderful years of marriage together until he went to Heaven in 2004. She worked as a bookkeeper at Trudy's Dress Shop and was a loving mother to 2 daughters; Diane and Lynne. They migrated South to Jasper, Georgia in 1983 and settled in the peaceful mountain community of Bent Tree.

She adored chocolate, crossword puzzles, and reading. She filled her days with crosswords, calls & visits from loved ones, her evenings with Pat Sajak, Alex Trebek and books, and her weekends with Downton Abbey and BBC mysteries. She also enjoyed antiquing, decorating and history and her "great-grand-cat", Velcro! An avid golfer until her mid-eighties, she played and won in numerous tournaments, playing her last nine holes at the age of 86!

She is survived by her 2 daughters, Diane Chatfield (preceded in death by Ray Chatfield), and Lynne Cunningham (Al Cunningham), 5 Grandchildren; Scott Chatfield, Melissa Erin Spruill (David Spruill), Melissa Richards (Scott Richards), Sarah Daniell (Matt Daniell), Rebecca Murphy (Patrick Murphy), 8 Great-grandchildren; Heather Sanders ( Devin Sanders), Meagan Cunningham, Ethan Spruill, Ella & Adley Daniell, Ryan & Jacob Murphy.
We invite you to celebrate her life at Fellowship Presbyterian Church in Jasper, Georgia, however, due to COVID-19 we have chosen to postpone the service until a later date when we can all enjoy each others company in close proximity again. In lieu of flowers to honor her memory and to benefit local, longtime friend, Hans Rueffert, we would love for you to donate to GastricCancer.org

Cagle Funeral Home is honored to serve the Kravec family.
