Wayne
Brendel
Jan 2, 1944 — Apr 8, 2025
Fairmont
Mr. Wayne Brendel, age 81, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on April 8, 2025. Born on January 2, 1944, to the late Albert Brendel and Agnes Hightower Brendel, Wayne's life was a testament to love, simplicity, and dedication.
Wayne shared a beautiful life with his beloved wife, Margaret, with whom he had three sons. Together, they built a family that brought him immense joy and pride. A devoted employee of the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), Wayne retired after 34 years of faithful service. He was a man of simple joys and strong interests. He found peace in fishing and gardening and treasured moments spent with his family. A big fan of Braves baseball and Georgia Bulldogs football, Wayne loved the excitement of each game day. He had a fondness for John Wayne westerns and enjoyed attending auctions, which mirrored his love for everyday treasures. Music held a special place in his heart, as he was deeply touched by Bill Monroe bluegrass, old country songs, and the uplifting sounds of gospel. Wayne's legacy lives on in the memories of those who knew and loved him. His life was simple but full—one rooted in family, kindness, and the joy found in life's quiet moments.
Wayne is preceded in death by his parents and daughter in law, Katrina Brendel, brothers, Dewey Brendel, John Herman Brendel, Glenn Brendel, Gene Brendel, John Elmer Brendel, Horace Brendel, Albert Brendel Jr., Truman Brendel and his sister, Mildred Fields.
