On the morning of Thursday, August 6th, 2026, our mama, Selma Dobson age 84, received her final wish: to be reunited forever with the love of her life, our daddy, and to spend eternity with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

The love between our mom and dad was inseparable, and her passing so soon after Dad was proof of that. Our mother was raised in a large household with seven children that lacked many material things, but one thing that was always present was love.

If Mom had one motto, it would be to love one another, and that's exactly what she did. Mom loved fiercely and with her whole heart. Her deep love and compassion for others overflowed into our community, where she shared her famous apple pies and prepared countless meals for those in need.

To describe Mom's relationship with God, she was one of His most faithful and obedient servants. One of her greatest joys was leading the children's choir at Mica Baptist Church.

Mom was a caregiver to everyone and everything, with those chickens being her true calling. She loved farming endlessly. As Dad always said, "Your mom would just about raise these chickens for free."

Mom spent many hours quilting, raising grandbabies, and even playing softball with her children. There are not enough words to fully describe our mother, but in closing, we would like for you to remember her not for the way she left this world, but for the mark she made on it.

She is survived by her children, Ricky (Debi) Dobson, Kenny (Sheila) Dobson, and Donna (Stephen) Brown; her grandchildren, Wesley (Kolbie) Dobson, Macy (Justin) Stewart, Alana Dobson, Salone (Turner) Griffin, Sydney (T.J.) Orr, and Eryn (Jackson) Partain and her great‑grandchildren, Maddie Stewart, Olivia Miller, Grant Griffin, Kyla James Griffin, Allie Griffin, Cade Griffin, and Colter Orr. Sister Doris Holden, sister Carolyn (Gene) Hyde along with several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Dobson is preceded in death by her parents Rufus Wesley and Etta Mae Wofford Blackwell; husband Jimmy Dobson; brothers Floyd Blackwell, Donas Blackwell, WM (Dub) Blackwell and sister Loretta Brackett.

The family will receive friends Friday, August 7, 2026, from 12PM to 9PM and Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 10AM until 1PM at Cagle Funeral Home. A 2PM funeral service will be held Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Mica Baptist Church with Rev. John Holoway, Rev. Steven Chapman, and Rev, Kenny Sutton officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Charlie Holden, Phil Blackwell, Jimmy Blackwell, Rodney Hyde, Alan Hyde, and Freddy Brackett will serve as pallbearers with Freddie Dobson serving as an Honorary Pallbearer.
