It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Roy Allen Byers, affectionately known as "Pop," at the age of 77, on December 27, 2024. Born on October 30, 1947, in Atlanta, Georgia, Roy was the cherished son of the late Mr. Aubrey Byers and Ms. Mildred Fitts Byers.
Roy's life was a testament to love, dedication, and hard work. He married the love of his life, Sara Byers, and together they built a beautiful family filled with love and laughter. Roy's devotion to their family was unwavering.
Roy's passions were as diverse as they were heartfelt. He found joy in gardening, with a particular fondness for growing tomatoes. His love for fishing and working on cars also defined much of his life, providing solace and satisfaction.
Roy leaves behind a legacy of love through his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who will forever cherish his memory and the warmth he brought into their lives.
He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, brothers Charles Byers and Kevin Byers.
Roy's loss will be deeply felt by his surviving family, daughters, Shannon Byers, Amanda Byers, son, Elliott (Brandi) Byers, grandchildren, Kaitlin Skidmore, Chelsea Brown, Norman (Ming) Miller, Morghan (Jesse) Byers, Sam (Alexis) Young, Caroline Miller, Kasi Byers, Jonah Miller, Hope Byers, Isabella Galloway, Gracie Byers, Mercy Galloway, Milli Perez, Tito Perez, great grandchildren, Zoe Skidmore, Chloe Fissette, Walker Miller, Branson Byers-Hitt, Nova Walker, Jude Miller, Liam Brown, Brynley Byers- Lee, Fred Miller, sisters-in-law, Barbara Byers and Dixie Byers. Several nieces and nephews also survive to cherish Pops memory.
The family will receive friends at Cagle Funeral Home on Thursday January 2, 2025, from eleven in the morning until one-thirty.
Roy's funeral service will be conducted at Long Swamp Baptist Church, Thursday January 2, 2025, at two in the afternoon with Revs. Alan Caylor, Terry Dean and Justin Buice officiating. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers will be; Stanley Miller, Norman Miller, Jonah Miller, David Beck, Sam Young and Kaitlin Skidmore.
