Obituary

Mr. Robert A. "Bob" Cagle, age 85, of Jasper, Georgia, owner and founder of Cagle Funeral Home, passed away peacefully at his home overlooking Sharptop Mountain, the view he loved, surrounded by his family, on Saturday, August 27, 2016.

Known affectionately as "DaddyBob," Bob devoted his life to serving families with compassion, strength, and unwavering commitment. In 1949, he established Cagle Funeral Home, building it with more heart, sacrifice, and determination than most will ever know. For more than six decades, he poured his wisdom, steadiness, and presence into the work he loved, continuing to serve until his body no longer allowed in 2016. His wife, Helen, and his son, David, stood faithfully by his side through every step of that journey.

To Bob, the funeral home was never just a business, it was who he was at his core. He was an outstanding businessman, but more importantly, he was a man who genuinely cared. His presence filled any room he entered. He greeted every person with the warmest hug, a kiss on the cheek, or a firm, unforgettable handshake. He knew and loved most everyone, and in return, most everyone knew and loved him. Bold in spirit, honest, caring, and a man of deep character, Bob was someone you never forgot.

Bob was also a natural leader and mentor. Whether he realized it or not, he shaped countless lives through his example, strong and steady, firm when needed, and always guided by a deep sense of purpose. Many looked up to him for his integrity, his work ethic, and the way he carried himself. He remained a constant, grounding presence in the lives of his children and grandchildren, someone they could always depend on.

Above all, Bob loved his wife, Helen. Their bond was the very definition of true love, one of those rare, lifelong partnerships that people speak of with admiration. When people talk about soulmates, they talk about Bob and Helen.

Bob also dedicated much of his life to his faith and his community. He helped build many churches, attended services every Sunday, and prayed for others with sincerity and conviction. His love for his family was deep and unwavering.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Helen Cagle of Jasper; sons and daughters-in-law David Cagle of Jasper, Keith & Anita Lowe of Chatsworth, and Kenny & Jennie Lowe of Waleska; daughters and sons-in-law Cathy & Johnny Clark of Jasper and Becky & William Mullins of Jasper; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and extended family members J.J. Girard and Layne Arnold. The family extends a special and heartfelt thank you to Jack Green for the devoted and loving care he provided to Bob and the entire Cagle family.

Visitation will be held Monday, August 29, 2016, from 5:00pm–9:00pm; Tuesday from 8:00am–9:00pm; and Wednesday from 8:00am until the funeral hour. Funeral services will take place at 2:00pm on Wednesday in the chapel of Cagle Funeral Home, with Dr. Kenneth Meadors and Pastor Ithiel Jones officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

The family requests no flowers. Donations may be made to Georgia Mountains Hospice and/or The Chapel Church.
