Obituary for Raymon Benson "Bennie" Bray
With great sadness, Cagle Funeral Home announces the passing of Raymon Benson "Bennie" Bray. He was a man of great integrity. He loved his Savior, Jesus Christ, his dear wife, and his family.
Raymon was born on March 17, 1935 in McCullough, Alabama, as the sixth of nine children to Mr. Samuel Atlas Bray and Mrs. Roberta Wise Bray. His Christian faith was an essential part of his life. He possessed a true servant's heart beginning each day with his beloved wife in prayer for his children and grandchildren.
Benson was a trained computer programmer and worked at NASA Space Center in Florida for 20 years. Through the years, he enjoyed gardening, basketball, woodworking, and being outdoors. He was a member of Gideons International and was involved in his church, holding many positions of leadership and singing in the choir.
Raymon was greeted in heaven by his parents and his brothers and sisters. His memory will live on for his precious wife of 69 years, Clara Tolleson Bray, son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Cathy Bray, daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and JB Bodie, brother, Samuel Arias Bray, and his sister, Elaine Bray Dobson. 7 grand children and 20 great-grand children will cherish his memory.
Raymon and Clara began their life together in Mobile, Alabama, then lived in Florida and Mississippi, returning to Alabama. They settled in Jasper, Georgia living there for 2 years. No matter where he found himself, Raymon never met a stranger.
The funeral service for Raymon will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 2 o'clock in the afternoon in the chapel of Cagle Funeral Home; Pastor Tony Ramirez officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, at 12 o'clock noon until the funeral hour.
Raymon's family deeply appreciates your support during this difficult time and will be accepting flowers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mount Zion Baptist Church in Jasper, Georgia.
