Olin Chastain, a beloved resident of the Hinton Community, Georgia, peacefully passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2025. Born on December 27, 1957, in Jasper, Georgia to the late Homer and Gertrude Chastain, Olin's life was a testament to dedication, love, and craftsmanship.
As a devoted husband, Olin and his beloved wife shared a remarkable 50 years of marriage, building a loving family and weaving a tapestry of cherished memories together. His profound love for hunting, fishing, and the great outdoors defined much of his joy, and he treasured every moment spent with his family.
A talented mechanic and electrician, Olin was known for his remarkable skills and unwavering work ethic. He was a good brother, a cherished friend, and an amazing grandpa whose warmth, wisdom, and kindness left an indelible mark on his grandchildren's lives.
Olin is preceded in death by his sisters, Nancy Lacy and Della May Chastain, brothers, Arthur Chastain, and Sherman Chastain and his grandson, Jacob Buttrum.
His loss will be deeply felt by his surviving family, wife, Ruby Chastain, sons, Teddy (Jennifer) Buttrum, Terry Buttrum, Trina (Danny) Wright, grandchildren, Nina Wright, Misty Fountain, Sheena (John) Quinton, Casey (Tara) Buttrum, Ashley Wright, Wesley (Sahnia) Buttrum, Brandon Buttrum, brothers, Ben (Janice) Chastain and Clifford (Faye) Chastain. Olin's legacy is one of love, family, and dedication. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
The family will receive friends at Cagle Funeral Home on Saturday, January 18, 2025, from one in the afternoon until nine at night and Sunday, January 19, 2025, from eleven in the morning until the service hour.
Olin's funeral service will be conducted in the Robert A. Cagle Memorial Chapel on January 19, 2025, at four in the afternoon with Rev. Bobby Timms and Rev. Joseph Hightower officiating.
The family deeply appreciates your support during this difficult time and we will be accepting flowers.
