Nathan
Burgess
Dec 31, 1955 — Jun 10, 2024
Jasper
Nathan Cleborn Burgess passed away unexpectedly on June 10, 2024, at the age of 68. Nathan was born in Tate, Georgia on December 31, 1955 to Mr. Ralph Burgess and Ms. Francis Godfrey Burgess.
Nathan said one of his favorite things to do as a child was to get home from school, jump on his horse, and try to race the bus up the road. He said he always wanted to be a cowboy or pirate when he grew up, but he was even better than both, he was his family's hero. On February 10, 1985 he married the love of his life, Susan and shared 39 wonderful years with her. Nathan was a strong, kind and loving husband, father and Papaw. Everyone who knew him, knew he was an extremely humble, modest, altogether beautiful human being, helping anyone he could. At the core of his being, Nathan knew that he became the man he was, only through the saving grace of God and being in relationship with his Creator. Nathan loved all things outdoors, camping, hiking, fishing, kayaking, hydrangeas, playing his guitar, listening to music, carpentry, his and Susan's date nights, concerts and a good strong "cup of mud". His family meant more to him than anything else in the world and this was obvious to anyone who observed him serving and loving his family.
Nathan's memory will now live on with his wife, Susan Burgess, father, Ralph Burgess, daughters; Heather and Chris Hamer, Brittany and Daniel Ott, Sarah and Brannen Moss, step-daughter, Michelle Blackwell, brother, Earl Burgess, sisters; Darlene and Danny Ellis, Mary Vick, Charlene Batton and his grandchildren; Alec, Kurtis, Lillian, Max, Sidney, Draven, Micah, Archer, Charlotte, Elijah, Millie, Loreah and Amelia.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Francis Burgess and sister, Loretta Burgess.
The family will receive friends at Cagle Funeral Home on Saturday June 15, 2024 from twelve o'clock noon until the service hour. Nathan's funeral service will be held on Saturday June 15, 2024 at 2 o'clock in the afternoon in the chapel of Cagle Funeral Home.
The family deeply appreciates your support during this difficult time. Nathan had a heart for children in need, and the family asks that in lieu of flowers, folks would consider a donation to the Save the Children fund: www.savethechildren.org
