Melvin Childers, age 68, of Talking Rock, Georgia, passed away on November 19, 2024. He was born on March 11, 1956, to the late Mr. George Childers and Ms. Ora Parker Childers in Sylvester, Georgia.
Melvin was married to the love of his life for 49 wonderful years and together they were blessed with two wonderful children. Melvin was a man of many talents, known for his skills in working on cars and lawnmowers. A true jack of all trades, he enjoyed engaging in various projects and hobbies. He had a special love for playing horseshoes and took immense pride in being a dedicated father and beloved paw paw. For Melvin, family was the cornerstone of his life. He cherished the time spent with his loved ones and placed them at the center of his world.
Melvin's legacy of love, dedication, and craftsmanship will be deeply missed by his family and friends. May he forever be remembered for his kind heart and unwavering devotion to those he held dear.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Ed Childers, Max Childers, Tom Childers, Guy Childers and Junior Childers.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sally Childers, son, Matthew Childers, daughter, Amanda Childers, grandchildren, Payton Nichols, Westin Childers, brothers, Herman (Lynn) Childers, Bo Childers, Bobby (Martha) Childers, sisters, Lynn (Cliff Logan) Childers, Bonnie (Ronnie) Pruitt and Gail Neighbors.
The family will receive friends at Cagle Funeral Home on Wednesday November 20, 2024, from two in the afternoon until 10 at night and Thursday November 21, 2024, from 11 in the morning until the service hour.
Melvin's funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of Cagle Funeral Home on Thursday November 21, 2024, at three in the afternoon with Rev. Stanley Mulkey, Rev. Robert Matthews and Danny Childers officiating. Per Melvin's heartfelt wishes, he will be cremated following the funeral service, honoring his request with love and respect.
The family deeply appreciates your support during this difficult time and ask that in lieu of flowers donations may be made to help with funeral expenses.
