It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mattie Padgett Ayers, of Tate, Georgia, on October 7, 2024. Born on July 18, 1951, to the late Mr. Norman Padgett and Ms. Ollie Hawkins Padgett, Mattie lived a life full of love, kindness, and devotion.
Mattie was the best mother, granny, nana, and friend anyone could ask for. She was known for her loving and kind nature, always putting her family first and taking care of those she loved. Her soft heart and willingness to help anyone in need were hallmarks of her character.
She had a deep love for Jesus, which she expressed through her actions and her unwavering faith. Mattie also had a passion for cooking and gardening, finding joy in nurturing her plants and preparing meals for her family.
Mattie is survived by her beloved family, who cherished her deeply and will miss her immensely. Her love and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Janice Norrell.
Mattie is survived by her daughter, Jackie and Steve Darby, grandchildren, Michael Waller, Daniel Waller, Roger Waller, Beth Henry, James and Diane Triplett, Rachael Triplett, Jacobe Norrell, Noble Roland, great grandchildren, Zade Waller, Karly Waller, sisters, Barbara Cantrell, Linda Cantrell, Wanda Silvers, Dorothy Cantrell, Margaret Holt, brothers, Luke Padgett, Leonard Padgett and Larry Padgett.
The family will receive friends at Cagle Funeral Home on Thursday October 10, 2024, from eleven in the morning until nine at night and Friday October 11, 2024, from nine in the morning until the service hour.
Mattie's funeral service will be conducted in the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home on Friday October 11, 2024, at 2 o'clock with Rev. Michael Lusk officiating. Interment will follow directly after the service at Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will be accepting flowers and deeply appreciate your support during this difficult time.
