Lorene Mulkey Fitts, age 88, of Marble Hill, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2025. Born on June 6, 1937, in Marble Hill, she was the daughter of Fred and Edith Wetherow Mulkey.

Lorene was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, George Ray Fitts; brothers Charles Mulkey, Williard Mulkey, and Fred (Jr.) Mulkey; and sisters Betty Bolton and Doris Glass.

She is survived by her sons: David Fitts and wife Teresa, Daniel Fitts and wife Estelle, and Stephen Fitts and wife Joan. Lorene was a proud grandmother to Jason Fitts, JoAnna Swartz and husband Drew, Shannon Smith and husband James (Jim Bob), Nicholas Fitts and wife Caroline, and Elijah Fitts, 9 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

Lorene cherished her family deeply and found joy in tending to her flowers, watching birds, and spending time with her cat, Tootles. Her loving spirit and gentle presence will be missed by all who knew her.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 10, 2025, from 4 PM to 8 PM, and on Saturday, October 11, from 11 AM until the funeral service at 2 PM in the Robert A. Cagle Memorial Chapel with Chaplain Ryan Johnson officiating. Interment will follow beside her husband in Long Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Fitts, Nicholas Fitts, Elijah Fitts, James Smith, Nickie Smith, and Andrew Smith.
