Mrs. Linda Howell Cargile, age 81 of Big Canoe, passed away Monday July 17, 2017 at her residence.

A native of Oak Grove, LA, Mrs. Cargile spent most of her adult life in Lake Charles, LA. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education from the University of Louisiana Monroe. She received her Master of Education degree from McNeese State University, Lake Charles, LA.

Mrs. Cargile was a retired school teacher and taught in the Calcasieu Parish School System for over thirty years. She taught in all levels from elementary, middle school to high school. Mrs. Cargile loved the piano and for many years played piano and organ for many churches in north Louisiana. After her retirement she moved with her family to the beautiful mountains of North Georgia. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

She was a dedicated teacher and a devoted, loving wife of 61 years and mother. Her quiet loving manner reached out and touched the life of many. She is survived by her husband, Robert Fletcher Cargile of Big Canoe and one son R. Michael Cargile, MD, and his wife Sonia of Big Canoe, GA.

A service will be held at 11:00am Friday July 21, 2017 at Big Canoe Cemetery with Rev. Ben Mock officiating. Interment at Big Canoe Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to Georgia Mountains Hospice at 70 Caring Way, Jasper, GA 30413 or Mt. Zion Baptist Church at 1036 N. Main St, Jasper, GA 30143.
