Laura Killen Anderson died on January 18, 2025, in Jasper, Georgia. Born on 30 October 1938, she was a daughter of the late Judge A.M. Anderson and Laura Gilbert Anderson of Perry and Macon. She is survived by her husband, G. David Robinson Jr., of Jasper; her son Jon W. Hedgepeth (wife Jane), and two grandchildren, Charolette and Warren, all of Atlanta; and her brother, Dr. A.M. Anderson III, of Macon.
Laura earned a BA degree in Journalism and English from the University of Georgia, where she was on the university swim team and softball team. She was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and was presented by the Bon Hommes in Macon. She worked as a press assistant to U.S. Senator Herman E. Talmadge in Washington, DC, and later as an assistant press secretary to Georgia Governor Carl E. Sanders. She was a writer for Emory University's Office of Development, and later an instructor there for 13 years. She also authored a textbook, published by McGraw-Hill, and was a life-long book club member. A veteran Master Gardener, on retirement she moved to the Georgia mountains and was a volunteer first responder for Dawson and Pickens counties fire departments for 15 years. Laura was an active, lifelong Democrat.
