Katharine Florence Lanier (Kay), age 87, passed peacefully from this life on February 10, 2021 after a long battle with dementia and a recent struggle with Covid-19. She was born to Archibald A. and Virginia E. Fahringer on August 14, 1933 in Louisville, Kentucky.

Kay earned a nursing degree and spent her career working in hospitals in Kentucky, Colorado, and Georgia. She loved the Lord and was an avid reader. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Ray Lanier, Sr. of Atlanta, GA and their sons: Ray Lanier, Jr. (Evelyn) of Statesboro, GA, Michael Lanier (Tracie) of Henderson, TN, Andrew Lanier (Dian) of Atlanta, GA and Gregory Lanier, Sr. (Lynn) of Cumming, GA. She leaves behind her grandchildren whom she adored: Jamie Lanier, Josh Lanier (Sarah), Julie Gross, Thomas Lanier (Lindsay), Nathan Lanier, Tallulah Lanier, and Gregory Lanier, Jr. She was also blessed with many great-grandchildren: Luke, Micah, Eve, Sophia, Nora, Delanie and Mason. Her step grandchildren include Arelyn Avila-Sonora (Alex), Melissa Avila (Eric Santiago), and step great-grandchildren; Brayden, Brandon, Brady, and Aliyah.

A funeral service will be held at Cagle Funeral Home in Jasper, GA on February 24, 2021 at 8:30 am. Burial will follow at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA.
