We are deeply saddened by the passing of Judy Rogers on March 2, 2025. Judy was born in Auburn, Alabama on August 19, 1950 to Colonel and Mrs. James Smith. As a child, Judy and her family lived in Hawaii, where their father was stationed with the United States Army. They later moved to Atlanta near Fort McPherson. While in Atlanta, Judy attended Southwest High School, and Georgia State University. Judy and Jim Crawford met as neighbors while living in the same condominium complex in Buckhead, and they were married in 1976. They raised two daughters and moved to Big Canoe in 2002. Their 32 year marriage ended with Jim's death in 2007.

Judy was an artist at heart. She had a great talent for interior and exterior design. She would spend hours at the kitchen counter sketching designs for her homes and gardens. She also created watercolor paintings, cross stitch designs, fairy gardens, wood carvings, and she enjoyed cooking for those she loved. This included her five grandchildren whom she adored - as they did her.

While working at Gibbs Gardens visitor's center, Judy's affable smile and soft-spoken manner drew many to her, including Frank Rogers, whom she met while at Gibbs. They fell in love and were married on April 7, 2018. She and their dog Ginger, often "got their steps in" at the Big Canoe ball field. At other times, she joined Frank and Ginger on "nature walks" on the many trails in Big Canoe. She and Frank traveled the world together, visiting incredible places: Morocco, Egypt, Greece, and Mexico, to name a few.

She is preceded in death by her father, James Smith, her mother, Margaret Smith, and her late husband, James M. Crawford.

She is survived by her husband, Frank Rogers, her daughters, Jennifer Cowart, husband Corey Cowart, and Jessica Place, husband Russell Place, her brother, Crandall Smith, wife Sandra Smith, and her sisters Glenda Morrell and Debra Koehler, husband Kenneth Koehler. She is
also survived by her grandchildren, Emerson (Eme) Cowart, Abigail (Abi) Cowart, Corey Cowart Jr., Jacy Place, and Rebecca (Becca) Place as well as her step-sons, James Crawford Jr., Joseph Franklin Rogers III, step-daughter Laurie Tolbert, step-granddaughter Laura Fitzpatrick
(husband Jason Fitzpatrick), and step-grandson Roman Fitzpatrick.

The family will receive visitors at Cagle Funeral Home in Jasper, Georgia on Thursday, March 13, from 5 PM to 8 PM.

Judy's funeral will be conducted at the Big Canoe Chapel on Friday, March 14 at 2 PM by Chaplain David Apple with a reception up stairs at Cousins Hall following.

Judy wished to be cremated.

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed (Psalm 34:18).

And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
