Obituary

John Mullinax of Jasper, age 88, passed away peacefully at home on October 24, 2024. A proud veteran, John served in the US Navy for six years before retiring from Bent Tree Golf Course as an irrigation specialist. He and his wife were blessed with children and together they built a life full of love and cherished memories.

In his youth, John would walk from Cove Road to Jasper on Friday nights to watch westerns. For just a quarter, he could enjoy a ticket, drink, and popcorn-a small price for the joy it brought him. His love for westerns continued throughout his life, with "Gunsmoke" being his absolute favorite.

John was an avid deer hunter and camper. Sundays were reserved for bluegrass gospel music, a little glass of Jim Beam with honey, and of course, more westerns. His passions painted a vivid picture of a life well-lived, full of simple pleasures and profound love for his family and friends.

John's kind heart and free spirit left an indelible mark on all who knew him. His laughter, stories, and warmth will be deeply missed. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Stanley Mullinax, daughter, Tonya Mullinax, Samantha Collett, and his sister, Grace Weaver.

John is survived by his son, Joey Mullinax, daughter, Angelia (Eric) Duncan, grandchildren, John Douglas Mullinax, Elizabeth Duncan, Aaron Duncan, Cindy (B.J.) Moss, Aspen (Kyle) Levy, Phoebe Collett, stepchildren, R.J. Hughes, Glenda (Herman) Stokes and sister, Betty Champion.

The family will receive friends at Cagle Funeral Home on Friday October 25, 2024, from noon until nine at night and Saturday October 26, 2024, from nine in the morning until the service hour.

John's funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of Cagle Funeral Home on Saturday October 26, 2024, at eleven in the morning with Revs. Eric Duncan and James Thomason officiating. R.J Hughes, B.J. Moss, Bo Champion, Aaron Duncan, Craig Collett and Eric Grno will be serving as pallbearers. Interment will follow the service at Sharptop Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will be accepting flowers and deeply appreciate your support during this difficult time.
