Jo Lynn Cagle (Jody) of Nelson, GA passed away January 11, 2021 at Northside Hospital Cherokee due to complications from Covid-19.

For those of you who knew her, you knew our Mama was a beautiful woman inside-out, that enjoyed working in her flowers, traveling (even if it was just riding around), walking on the beach looking for shells or shark teeth, laying in the bed at night watching the deer and other animals that came into her back yard as well as many other things, But her absolute favorite was visiting Cades Cove, She never got tired of going there.

She became Memaw to a lot of the neighborhood boys of Nelson. She always took the time to sit down, talk and listen when they came by and always made sure she at least offered them something to eat before they left. She sure loved each and every one of them.

We must mention her Golden Girls group. They have shared ups, downs, lazy days by the pool, many adventures, and have all been there for each other. Most importantly, they shared lasting friendships throughout the years and deep love for each other. Mama always looked forward to getting together with these girls. You ladies brought a lot of joy and laughter into her life. We are so forever grateful that she had each of you.

After Daddy died, she was able to find love again. They have really had some adventures together, Their last adventure was December 2020 when they took off to Brunswick and the Golden Isles - this was a gift to each other. We never heard our Mama laugh as much until they found each other. Their love blossomed like a whirlwind on Facebook for all to see (admittedly, sometimes we cringed). But she was the happiest she had been in a long time, almost as if she had transformed into a giddy young girl, head over heals in love. We know she loved Rodger Brown so very much and know he loved her. For this Rodger, we are eternally grateful.

Our Mama loved all her grandchildren very much and was always happy to see them visit. Some of these she either helped raise or did raise as her own. She cherished every single one of them. Many of them grew up being at her house around her and Daddy frequently. They all got the peanut butter and sugar sandwiches or her cinnamon toast. While she would have preferred to keep them all as children, she enjoyed watching them grow into adults. She was super proud of each of you. She would end her conversations with I love you Hun...

Mama had a special side-kick the last several years of her life, Aspen. They were thick as thieves - going on one adventure after another. Aspen was with Mama a lot and gave her a lot of enjoyment. They cooked together, played together, took care of Grandma together, just so much we can't begin to list them all. One thing is for sure, Mama loved Aspen with all she had.

There are many things we could say about our Mama. She was a lot of things to different ones: a Mother, a Memaw, a love of their life, a sister, an aunt, a cousin and a friend. She touched a lot of peoples lives in ways we will never know. She wasn't perfect, but she was our Mama.

There have been so many people who have said a prayer, called, messaged or thought about her and us. We have no words to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone. We will miss her very much, but know we will see her in the resurrection - Revelation 21: 3-5.

We would also like to express our deepest gratitude to the doctors and nurses in the ER department and on floor 6 East of Northside Cherokee for going above and beyond in giving our mother excellent care and comforting her like a surrogate family due to our not being able to be with her, letting us visit by means of video calls, and for making sure we were there with her in her final moments. We will treasure that always!

She is survived by her special love: Rodger Brown; son: Shannon Cagle of Cartersville; two honorary sons: Sammy Cagle Jr. of Nelson and Johnathon Cagle of Nelson; daughters and sons-in-law: Trudy & Ricky Chastain of Talking Rock, Janie & Jeff Elliott of Marble Hill, Lisa & Mark Fuller of Henagar, AL, and Kelly & Troy Magness of Cartersville; brothers and sisters-in-law: Benny & Brenda Thacker of Nelson, Troy & Penny Thacker of Nelson and Ricky Thacker of Nelson. She is also survived by sixteen grandchildren and thirty-one great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews that she dearly loved.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Truman and Izzie Thacker, husband: Marvin Cagle, son: Sammy Cagle, granddaughter: Lindsey Weaver, and sister: Patsy Heath.

She was a member of Nelson Baptist Church.

Due to the Covid-19 virus and concern for the safety of all, there will be no arrangements for a service at this time. Mama's final request to us (her last piece of Mom advice) was to do everything we could possibly do to protect ourselves, our families and others from this virus. When it is considered safe to do so, we will have a celebration of life service. In lieu of flowers, Mama requested donations be made to St. Jude's Hospital.
