Obituary

James H. Harris, 100, of Jasper, GA, went to be with the Lord on June 11, 2025, leaving behind a century's worth of legacy, love, and tireless devotion to his family and community. Born on February 7, 1925, in Jasper to the late Mr. Skid Harris and Lily Cordell Harris of the Pleasant Hill Community, James embodied the enduring values of service, resilience, and quiet strength.

A proud veteran of WWII, James served his country with honor and later committed 35 years of dedication to Lockheed Martin, working as an engineer. Even in retirement, James never slowed down—whether it was repairing lawnmowers, tending to his garden, or simply finding a task to stay busy, his hands and heart were always at work from sunup to sundown.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy Harris, and his dear companion, Nan Cobb, whose inspiration and presence meant the world to him. James is survived by his loving children: James L. Harris, Blanche Harvell, Barbara (David) Benefield, and Robin Harris. His grandchildren—Jeremy Bryant, Jennifer Bryant, and Tobin Harvell—along with great-grandchildren Gideon Harvell, Malachi Harvell, Madisen Holbert, and Warren Howe, will carry forward the lessons and love passed down by a life so fully lived.

The family will receive friends at Cagle Funeral Home on Saturday, June 14, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and again on Sunday, June 15, from 8:00 AM until the service hour. A celebration of life will be held in the Robert A. Cagle Memorial Chapel at Cagle Funeral Home on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at 2:00 PM, with interment to follow at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers are Jeremy Bryant, Tobin Harvell, Allen Billehus, Michael Hancock, Jason Meek and Tommy Meek. The family kindly requests no food be sent to the funeral home, though drinks are welcomed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a local church in memory of James' enduring faith and generosity.

His was a life that reflected steadfast love, diligent hands, and a heart that never stopped giving. He will be missed, remembered, and honored always.

Cagle Funeral Home is honored to serve the Harris family in this difficult time.
