Ms. Jackie Birchall Lamy, age 72 of Jasper, passed away May 16, 2021 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.

Ms. Lamy was born in Atlanta, GA, February 16, 1949. She grew up in Milledgeville, GA where she graduated from Baldwin County High School. She attended Florida State University where she was a member of the synchronized swimming team. She then transferred to the University of Georgia where she graduated with a Bachelor's Degree. She furthered her education by obtaining a Master's in education from Armstrong Atlantic University. Jackie taught special education for thirty years. Most of her years in education were spent teaching in Savannah Chatham Public County Schools. After moving to the mountains of Jasper, GA she began teaching as a special education teacher and retired from Cherokee County School District.

Jackie is preceded in death by her father John Henry "Jack" Birchall, mother Evelyn DeFors, and her husband Richard Dennis Lamy Jr.

Jackie is survived by her daughter, Meredith Smith of Jasper; step son & step daughter in Law, Richard Kiley and Tania Lamy; two step grandchildren, Kiley and Reagan Lamy.

Also surviving are brother and sister in law, Gary and Terry Birchall of Wilmington, NC; nephew, John Birchall and wife Malissa, and their son Brian, and nephew Brian Birchall of Cartersville, GA.

Jackie loved to spend time with her family, watch University of Georgia Football, shop, and plant flowers. She also enjoyed and was grateful for the views of the water from her house in Savannah and the views of the mountains from her house in Jasper. She was compassionate, giving and loving!
