Obituary

Hazel Gordon, age 92, of Jasper, Georgia, passed away on October 29, 2024. She was born on August 12, 1932, in Carrollton, Georgia.

She was a loving and dedicated wife to Bobby, whom she married on March 30, 1956. Together, they were blessed with three wonderful daughters and built a beautiful life filled with cherished memories.

Before marriage, Hazel worked at Gaston Photos. She then dedicated herself to being a stay-at-home mom until her daughters got older. Hazel later worked at Lee Jeans, sewing and pressing, then at Pickens High School in the cafeteria, and spent many years at Wildwood Health Care as a cook. Hazel had a love for the great outdoors, and weekends often saw the family loading up the kids and heading off for camping trips to Lake Lanier and Lake Allatoona. There were also memorable vacations to numerous Georgia State Parks, like Jekyll Island and even a trip to the original Grand Ole Opry/Ryman Auditorium to hear numerous artist such as Dolly Parton/Porter Waggoner in 1970. These adventures created memories that would last a lifetime. Hiawassee was their special retreat, where they enjoyed concerts and met some of Hazel's favorite music artists like Aaron Tippin, Kenny Chesney, and Marty Stuart. Among her favorite artists were Elvis Presley and Keith Urban. Hazel had a deep affection for birds, especially red birds, and was known as the queen of bingo. She adored Cracker Barrel and bluegrass music festivals. Her greatest joy came from being a devoted mother and a loving wife to Bobby for 65 wonderful years. Hazel's love and legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of her daughters and grandchildren. Hazel's warmth, love for family, and zest for life will be deeply missed, but her memory will forever be a source of comfort and joy to those who knew her.

She is now reunited in Heaven with her father, Frank Foster, mother, Eva Mae Cook Foster Winkler, beloved Bobby, listening to bluegrass and dancing to the music they both loved and her brother, Harold Foster.

She is survived by her daughters, Charlotte (Jack) Ford, Sherry (Neal) Devane, Melaney Gordon, grandchildren, Kaden Ford, Robert (Rebecca) Devane, Jeannie (Jeremy) Roberts, Megan (Ryan) Weston, great grandchildren, Emma, Levi, Sarah, Grace, Asa, Shepherd, Corbin, Logan and Leo, brother, Don Foster.
