Georgia Medford Cagle, 88, of Ball Ground, Georgia, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2025.  A devoted mother, cherished friend, and faithful servant, Georgia's life was marked by her helpful spirit and unwavering dedication to her family and church.

Born on October 16, 1936, in Marietta, Georgia, she grew up surrounded by the warmth and traditions of the South.  From an early age, she demonstrated a care for others that stayed with her throughout her life.  The values instilled in her during  her upbringing--hard work, generosity, and faith--guided her throughout her remarkable life.

Georgia's greatest pride and joy in life was her family.  As a devoted mother to her beloved children, Joan Rutledge and Lorie Wooten, Georgia put family at the center of everything she did.  Those who knew her remember her as someone always ready with a kind word, a helping hand, or a listening ear--whether at home or in her wider community.  Whether hosting family gatherings or offering support during life's challenges, Georgia's warmth and dependability were the bedrock of her loved ones' lives.

Outside her home, Georgia brought her helpful spirit to the broader community.  She was a long-standing member of First Baptist Church of Jasper, where she served faithfully for many years as a Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School Director, and enjoyed playing the piano and organ on occasion.

In her professional and volunteer life, Georgia was involved with Pickens County Retired Educators' Association, where she served as president.  This involvement allowed her to cultivate her love of history.  She worked tirelessly on gathering information on the Talking Rock Schoolhouse and spent many years giving tours each fall during their Heritage Festival.

Family gatherings were Georgia's favorite occasions, and she delighted in seeing her loved ones come together.  She was happiest in their presence, whether sharing a meal, celebrating a milestone, or simply enjoying conversation.  Georgia's legacy lives on in the laughter, stories, and traditions she fostered within her family.

Georgia was preceded in death by her husband, Wendell Cagle.  She is survived by her daughters, son-in-laws, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren:  Lorie and John Wooten of Atlanta; Joan and Bradley Rutledge of Jasper; Brooke (Rutledge) & Spencer, and their children - Caroline & Charlie Smith of Columbia, SC; and Brad Rutledge of Acworth.  Also surviving are a sister and brother:  Elizabeth Medford Dysart and her husband, Jerry; and N.A. Medford and his wife, Cindy.  Georgia's memory will be lovingly cherished by many more nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were fortunate enough to know her.  She leaves behind an indelible mark of kindness, devotion, and quiet strength.

In accordance with her wishes, a private service will be held for family members only.  It will be an intimate farewell to celebrate a life so well lived.  The family asks that in lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember Georgia consider a donation to the First Baptist Church of Jasper in her memory.

Though Georgia's physial presence will be deeply missed, her helpful heart, guiding faith, and devotion to family will remain a continuing inspiration to all who had the privilege to know her.
