Frank Dale Nichols, 90, of Jasper, GA passed away on Friday, January 17, 2025. Frank entered the world as a fourth generation Atlantan, born to Hiram Taylor Nichols, Sr. and Evelyn Marston Nichols, brother to Hiram Taylor Nichols, Jr. on August 11, 1934. He was raised in Virginia Highland, Highland Avenue area of Atlanta. He graduated from Grady High School, attended Emory University, enlisted and served four years in the Navy, returned from service and graduated from Southern Tech. He worked for and retired from the FAA after 35 years of service.
Frank met his late wife, Juanita (Nita) D. Nichols in Atlanta in 1960 and the couple were married for 47 years and devoted their time to raising their two children. Frank was active in volunteering his time in his community through coaching youth soccer, serving and giving resources as a volunteer to Clayton County's domestic violence shelters, volunteering at his children's primary schools in various capacities, supporting the Historic Oakland Foundation, and participating on the Grady High reunion committees through the years. His hobbies included anything that involved interacting with people and family. He loved to read, was a history buff, and maintained life-long friendships over his 90 years. He poured himself into and invested in the things that are eternal. Relationships with family and grandchildren were his focus, which will shape generations that will come after him.
Frank was predeceased by his beloved wife Juanita D. Nichols and survived by his two children Daniel (Hillary) Nichols, Ann (Denis) Terrell, four grandchildren, along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews. A private graveside service will be held at Georgia National Cemetery at a later date.
