Ernie Lee Green, 72, of Jasper, GA was called from this life at Grady Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, February, 23, 2022.

Ernie was born in McRae, GA, on January 23, 1950 to the late John and Jerusha Lee Green. He was a truck driver, and he took pride in keeping himself and others safe. He loved people, especially children, and he spent his life sacrificing to help others. He enjoyed simple things - a hardy Southern breakfast, a day-trip with his family, a conversation with a stranger - but found his greatest joy in making others happy and taking care of his family. He was a member of Maranatha Church of Jesus Christ. Children took to him because he could always be counted on for a treat, a hug, and kind words; adults knew that he would go out of his way to fix a car, take someone to an appointment, or do whatever he could to help in a crisis, and he never expected anything in return.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Donna Green; children, Jason Green of Dahlonega, GA; Tamara Green of Cleveland, TN; Brandon Green (Jamie) of Lincolnton, NC; and Mark Green of Marietta, GA; granddaughter, Jaiden Green of Lincolnton, NC; brothers, Henry Green (Martha) of Dawsonville, GA; Curtis Green (Dannie) of Warner Robins, GA; Emerald Green (Clara) of Ft. Valley, GA; and sisters, Marsha Brown and Catherine Gassell, both of Butler, GA.

Ernie was preceded in death by two brothers, John Green and Carey Green (Susan).

Visitation is Saturday, February 26, 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM, and Sunday, February 27, 8:00 AM until the funeral service.

Funeral services will be held 12:00 Noon Sunday, February 27, 2022 at Cagle Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Johnny Hollingshead, Rev. Victor Roberson, Rev. Billy Angel, and Mark Green officiating.

Interment will be at Little Prospect Memorial Grounds in Dalton, GA following the funeral service.

The family requests that visitors wear masks and that no food be brought during visitation.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to assist with funeral expenses.
