Obituary

Emory Lee Evans, aged 80, passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2024. Born on April 24, 1944, in Talking Rock, Georgia, he was one of seven children born to Mr. Tom Evans and Ms. Florence Swaney Evans.

Emory married the love of his life on August 29, 1963, and together they built a life and family. Together they have four wonderful children. He dedicated many years of service to Lockheed before retiring. Emory was a man of few words, but was known for his humility, gentleness, and tender heart. He cherished his children, church, and family. In his free time, Emory enjoyed cooking, hunting, fishing, and gardening. His unique talent as a deer tracker set him apart. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy, he was not only their father but their friend. Family always came first for Emory. His legacy lives on through the memories he created with his loved ones.

Emory's parents, brother and sister, awaited his arrival in Heaven.

He is survived by his wife Brenda Evans, sons; Allen (Donna) Evans, Michael (Angie) Evans, Mitchell Coleman, daughters; Rebecca (Kate Stokes), Rachel (William) Reece, brothers; Jim Evans, James Evans and sisters; Jewel Childers and Betty Hancock. Emory also has eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren to cherish his memory.

The family will receive friends at Cagle Funeral Home on Tuesday August 13, 2024, from three in the afternoon until nine at night.

Emory will lie in state Wednesday August 14, 2024, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church from two o'clock in the afternoon until the service hour.

The funeral service will be conducted at Mt. Zion Baptist Church on Wednesday August 14, 2024, at three o'clock in the afternoon with Pastor Harvey Ware and Pastor Tony Ramirez officiating. Entombment will follow the service at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers the family ask that contributions be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church in memory of Emory.
