Mrs. Doris Johnson Thomason, 99, of Dewy Rose, GA, wife of the late Eugene Arthur Thomason, passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at her residence.

Born Hazel Doris Johnson in Elberton, GA, on December 8, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Charlie Franklin Johnson and Alma Dunbar Johnson. She retired from Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, GA, where she worked as a nursing assistant for many years. Doris was a charter member of County Line Baptist Church in Jasper, GA. She later attended First Baptist Church of Elberton and enjoyed fellowshipping with her Sunday school class there. Doris spent many years volunteering with the Ladies Auxiliary at Elbert Memorial Hospital.

Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law: Jackie and Neil Summerour of Dewy Rose, GA and Cathy and Bill Combs of Clintwood, VA; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Along with her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her sisters: Janie Bradford and Nellie Rice.

A time of visitation celebrating the life of Doris Thomason will be held on Monday, September 28, from 5:00p.m. until 7:00p.m. at Berry Funeral Home. A graveside service for the family will be held in the County Line Baptist Church Cemetery in Jasper, GA with the Rev. Bill Combs officiating, at a later date.
