David F. Gray
March 7, 1932 – August 31, 2024

David F. Gray, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2024. Born on March 7, 1932, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to David Gray and Winifred Fletcher Gray, David lived a life full of love, dedication, and adventure.

David graduated from Ottawa Hills High School in 1950 and went on to earn his degree from Albion College in 1954, where he was a proud member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. Following his graduation, David served his country in the Army for two years, spending one year stationed in the United States and another in Germany.

In 1956, David married the love of his life, Carolyn Pound. Together, they shared 63 wonderful years of marriage, filled with joy and companionship. They were blessed with two children, Lynne Ann Gray Dorman and David James Gray, and one cherished grandson, David Andrew Dorman.

David's professional journey was marked by his dedication and hard work. He began his career with American Seating Company, contributing to the school divisions in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the Church Division in Booneville, Mississippi, and the Hospital Division in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. Later, he served as the office manager for Foremost Home brokers in Grand Rapids. In 1986, David and Carolyn embarked on a new adventure by building the Harbor House Inn Bed and Breakfast in Grand Haven, Michigan, where Carolyn served as the innkeeper for the first three years.

After their time in Grand Haven, David and Carolyn moved to Pelican Bay in Naples, Florida, before finally settling in Big Canoe, Georgia, in 1996. While living in Big Canoe, David enjoyed an active lifestyle, participating in golf, tennis, bridge, poker, gin rummy, and spending time at the fitness center. He also loved walking their dog, Gracie.

David's life was a testament to his commitment to family, community, and service. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A Celebration of David's life will be held at the Big Canoe Chapel, 226 Wolfscratch Village Circle, Big Canoe, GA 30143 at twelve o'clock noon on Saturday, November 9, 2024.
