David Bruce

May 6, 1959 — Oct 14, 2026

Mr. David Bruce, age 67, of Jasper, Georgia, passed away on October 14, 2026. David was born in Tate, Georgia, on May 6, 1959, to the late Winston Bruce and Betty Cagle Bruce.

David was the most loving husband to his wife, Jan, for 29 years. His whole world revolved around her, and hers revolved around him just the same. Their love was steady, strong, and the center of their lives.

David loved to hunt and fish. He spent countless hours doing what he enjoyed most, planting food plots, throwing corn, checking trail cameras, and casting a fishing line. He and Jan loved camping together and made many sweet memories. David also loved growing a garden and had one of the most beautiful gardens around. Farming was a big part of who he was, and he spent his life raising and caring for cattle with pride and dedication. He loved his family deeply and was a true friend to many. Children were always drawn to David, and he loved them right back. His dog, Abby, was his best friend and went everywhere with him. They are surely chasing cows together in Heaven now.

As a little boy, David believed his grandpa, Daddy Tom, hung the moon. He followed him everywhere he went, wanting to be right by his side. Tom Tom and Ben were like brothers to him. David spoke his mind, but his heart was pure. He loved hard, and everyone loved him too.

David is preceded in death by his parents, Winston and Betty Cagle Bruce, his grandparents, Tom and Lillie Mae Cagle; and his aunts, Lois Gilleland and Peggy Hulsey.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jan Bruce; his aunt and uncle, Jane and Lawrence Mulkey; and his cousins, Tom and Sherri Hulsey, Ben and Kim Gilleland, Rosemary (Daryl Puckett) Gilleland, Jimmy and Kathy Cagle, Matt and Katie Cagle, Joey and Emily Cagle, Hannah, Keith and Silas Ewing, and Emily, Blake and Colton Byrd. He is also survived by his sisters‑in‑law, Melba and Larry Neighbors and Judy Mosley, along with several nieces and nephews, more family, and countless friends who became family.

The family will receive friends at Cagle Funeral Home on Thursday, October 15, 2026, from noon until 9 p.m., and on Friday, October 16, from 9 a.m. until the service hour. David’s funeral service will be held in the Robert A. Cagle Memorial Chapel on Friday, October 16, 2026, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Grant Wade officiating. Interment will follow at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be; Marty Dean, Justin Dean, Matt Cagle, Joey Cagle, Jimmy Cagle, Johnny Sperin, Ricky Kirk, Pete Walker, Melvin Puckett, Daniel “Bubba” Puckett, and Tommy Chumley. Honorary pallbearers will be David Lawson, Jason Goforth, Brayden Goforth and Colby Goforth.

David lived his life with a gentle spirit, a strong work ethic, and a heart full of love. He gave more than he ever asked for, and he left every person better for having known him. His laughter, his kindness, and the way he loved his family will stay with them forever. The land he cared for, the memories he made, and the love he shared will continue to speak for him in all the days to come.

The family will accept flowers, or donations may be made to the Bethany Church Cemetery Fund, in care of Donna Johnson, 4426 Waleska Hwy 108, Jasper, Georgia, 30143.
