Ms. Christine B. New, age 97, of Jasper, GA, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2025. Born on October 12, 1927, in Tucker, GA, to the late Floyd J. Brownlee and Ruby Mae Brownlee, Christine was a woman of unwavering faith and prayer, who put Christ at the center of everything she did in life.

Christine grew up in Dekalb county with her parents and sisters. She excelled in her studies as a child, and as an adult she was brilliant with numbers and figures. She translated this talent into a very successful career as an accountant, serving the federal government for forty years. She began her work with the treasury department before moving on to the CDC, where she was an invaluable asset and the first woman to hold such an important position with the center. Even after retirement, Christine remained active within the community as a Pink Lady volunteer, working with her church, the local hospital, and C.A.R.E.S. In 1946, Christine married G.W. New. They had three children together: Elaine, Karen, and Russell. Her oldest daughter, Elaine, passed away in childhood, a loss that Christine felt the rest of her life.

She is preceded in death by her parents, eldest daughter, and husband. As well as her son-in-law, Jimmy Wyatt, and her sisters, Jo Ann Dimatteo and Betty White.

Her loss will be deeply felt by her surviving family: son, Russell (Susan) New; daughter, Karen Wyatt; grandchildren, Andrew Wyatt, Steven (Lisa) New, Cheryl New, Heather Wyatt, Matthew (Jessica) New; great grandchildren, Julian New and Noelle New. Christine's legacy of love, kindness, and service will be remembered by all who knew her. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and community.

The family will receive friends at Cagle Funeral Home on Tuesday January 28, 2025, from four in the afternoon until eight and Wednesday January 29, 2025, from noon until the service hour.

Christine's funeral service will be conducted in the Robert A. Cagle Memorial Chapel at Cagle Funeral Home on Wednesday January 29, 2025, at one o'clock with Rev. Steve Wigington officiating. Interment will be at Floral Hills, in Tucker, Georgia following the service. Serving as pallbearers will be Andrew Wyatt, Steve New, Matthew New, and Russell New.
