Talking Rock
Charles McClure Jordan
(May 2, 1943-February 5, 2024)
Mr. Charles Jordan, 80, of Talking Rock, GA went to his Heavenly Home on Tuesday, February 6, 2024. Charles was born to Mr. Charles Jordan Sr. and Lou ola Fowler Forrester in Nelson, GA on May 2, 1943.
Charles was a loving husband to Peggy for 35 years, father, grandfather, brother, and son. He served in the U.S. Army and while doing so was as an Honor Guard for the President. Charles was later employed by Lockheed and went on to retire after 35 dedicated years. He loved to make people laugh telling all kinds of jokes, mowing grass, being a luthier of mandolins, but most of all he loved his family and music to the greatest extent. Charles was a member of Bill Blaylock and The Modern Sound of Bluegrass for a period of time and played the mandolin with different bluegrass bands as well. He made appearances playing at The Grand Ole Opry and on the TV show Hee Haw with his friend Junior Samples, spending many Friday and Saturday nights with his family, making musical memories. The music has now gone silent but the melody will live on forever in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved him.
Charles is preceded in death by his mother and father, son, Jeffery Jordan and sister, Martha Matthews.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Jordan, sons; Scotty and Jennifer Jordan, Alex and Debbie Jordan, Josh and Erica Jordan, Jody and Kim Hester, Shane and Amy Hester, daughter, Jessica and Paul Mumpur, sisters, Judy Ingram and Emily Wiederhold. Many grandchildren also survive to cherish his loving memory.
A celebration of Charles' life will be conducted in the chapel of Cagle Funeral Home on Friday, February 9, 2024 at two o'clock in the afternoon with Rev. Steven Chapman officiating.
The family will receive friends at Cagle Funeral Home on Thursday, February 8, from 11 in the morning until nine and Friday nine in the morning until the service hour.
