Obituary

Mr. Charles Fitts, of Jasper, Georgia, passed away on May 5, 2025, at the age of 82. Born in Jasper on February 24, 1943, to the late William Fitts and Alice Ray Fitts, Charles lived a life full of love, hard work, and simple joys.

Charles was blessed to share 51 wonderful years with the love of his life, building a home and a life they cherished together. A dedicated diesel mechanic for the Marble Factory, he spent his working days keeping engines running, but his heart was happiest in his garage, tinkering on hotrods and old trucks, bringing machines back to life with skill and passion. He had a deep love for dirt track races and NASCAR, he never missed a chance to cheer on his favorite, Bill Elliott. He found peace in riding his buggy through sandy bottoms, and he could spend hours on his tractors, just piddling around, enjoying the simple pleasure of a day well spent. His collection of guns was one of his greatest joys, and he took pride in each and every one. If there was ever candy nearby, he sure had a sweet tooth for it. Charles was a man who found beauty in the everyday and joy in the things that made him happy. He was a husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, a mechanic, a racer at heart, a collector, and a man who lived fully in the moments that mattered. He will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Bill Fitts, Tommy Fitts, George Fitts, sisters, Ethel Lathem, Nancy Frazier and Ruth Pearson.

His absence will be deeply felt by his surviving family, wife, Kathy Fitts, daughter, Tracy (Jeff) Maney, grandchildren, Shaina Maney, Austin Maney Dylan Maney and sister, Susan Beck. Several nieces and nephews also survive to cherish his memory.

The family will receive friends at Cagle Funeral Home on Wednesday May 7, 2025, from five in evening until nine at night and Thursday, May 8, 2025, from 10 in the morning until the service hour.
