Obituary

Carolyn Elizabeth Williams White left this world peacefully while surrounded by family on January 2, 2023, following complications from Covid.

Carolyn was born to Mary and George Williams on January 24, 1943. After graduating from Sandy Springs High School, she petitioned her way into the all-male psychology department at Georgia Tech. One of the self-proclaimed "early girls," she was among the first 100 women to study at Tech and paved the way for generations of female students. Her pioneering ways continued as she worked in the male-dominated field of mergers & acquisitions in the 1980's, culminating in her position as Executive Vice President for a Fortune 500 company.

Although she achieved much professional success, Carolyn would say that her greatest accomplishment was that of a mother and grandmother. She commuted to Chicago on a daily basis, but never failed to provide a home-cooked meal, help her kids with homework, and just hang out and talk. She was an amazing role model and truly fit the definition of "super mom" in her selfless devotion to her family. Carolyn also relished her role as a grandmother. She was never happier than when she spent time with her grandkids. She adored getting to know each of them as individuals and passing down family traditions to the next generation.

In her free time, Carolyn was an avid bridge player, both online and in person. She was a voracious reader and would frequently devour mysteries in one sitting. Her garden was a source of joy and she prided herself on having the biggest hanging ferns. Carolyn also loved to travel and visited most states and many countries over her lifetime.

Despite significant health challenges during the last part of Carolyn's life, she demonstrated tremendous strength and courage. She never complained and always approached each day with a positive attitude.

Carolyn is survived by her husband of 50 years, Richard; her children, Sarah (Pascal) and Danny (Julie); her grandchildren, Claire, Alex, Elle, Avery, and Hardy; her cat, Cocoa; and her dog, Winston.

Carolyn touched all those she came in contact with and was an easy person to love.
