Brenda Swift Treadaway
May 14, 1943 - February 19, 2024

Brenda Joy Swift Treadaway died peacefully at her residence in Plant City, FL February 19, 2024.

Brenda was born in LaFayette, GA, and moved to Rome, GA in the summer of 1956.  She graduated Johnson High School, then attended Tift College before graduating from Floyd Junior College (now known as Georgia Highlands College).


Brenda moved to Lake Worth, FL for several years before she returned to Rome, GA. She lived there until she retired after many years as a librarian. After retirement she moved to Jacksonville, FL to be near her daughter Lori before they moved as a family to Plant City, FL in 2019.

She is preceded in death by her Grand Parents: Lola Lee (Doty) McKaig, Webb McKaig, and Fred Lawrence, William Harvey Swift and Effie (Greer) Swift, Parents: James Milton Swift and Dorothy Lee (Lawrence) Swift, her son Larry Michael Treadaway, grandson Mark Christopher Collett, her sister Jane Swift, Uncles Fred Lawrence, Harlon Swift, Ray McKaig, William Harvey Swift, Jr., Charles McKaig, and Julian McKaig.  Aunts: Gladys (Swift) Crowe, Altha (Swift) Cagle, Dartha Lee (Swift) Bennett, and Myrtis Martha (Swift) Shipp Fitzpatrick, and Laura McKaig.  Cousins Debbie Lawrence, Terresa Green, and Karen Whitchurch, and Mark Bennett.


Surviving family members are:  Daughter Lori Treadaway Collett and her husband Robert Collett, Grandson Brian Collett, Brother Bill Swift and wife Ellen Painter, ex-husband and father of her two children Larry Treadaway, Aunts Margie Oaks and Imogene, Nieces Julie Dougherty and husband Patrick, Erin Libby and husband Oliver.  Grand Nephew Trey Fitts and Grand Nieces Katelyn Dougherty, Eve Libby, and Nora Libby.  Cousins Anita Johnston and family, Gary Wayne Oaks, Sheryl Bennett, Peg Carrell and family, Randall Cagle and wife Beth and family, Steven Crowe and wife, Marilyn (Swift) Doremus, Donna (Swift) Peppers and Sharon McKaig.


A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Cagle Funeral Home 364 E Church St, Jasper, GA 30143 Tuesday February 27 at 1PM Relatives and friends invited.  Cagle Funeral Home is handling final arrangements. A private interment of her ashes will be scheduled for a later date.
