Beverly Hester Hughes

Beverly Ann Hughes, age 83, of Jasper, Georgia, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, July 18, 2026. Born in Ellijay, Georgia, Beverly was the daughter of the late Grady and Lola Moss.

Beverly is survived by her devoted husband of 15 years, Melvin Hughes; her sons and daughters‑in‑law, Mitchell and Rachel Pettigrew, and Kamotse and Jobi Pettigrew; her daughter and son‑in‑law, Denesia and Richard Weldy; and her stepchildren, Doyle and Connie Hughes, Vivian and Robert Jones, John and Missy Hughes, and Melissa Hughes. She is also lovingly remembered by her 23 grandchildren, 41 great‑grandchildren, and 3 great‑great‑grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Tommy and Junior; her sister, Dorothy; grandchildren Katie Larissa Samples and Tony Adam Samples.

Beverly’s life was defined by her deep love for her Lord, her church, and the joy she found in her garden of flowers. She cherished her husband Melvin, her children, and the generations of grandchildren who brought her endless pride and happiness. Her gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and devotion to family will be remembered always.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m., and on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. in the Robert A. Cagle Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Antioch Church in Talking Rock.
