Betty Lou Hancock, a remarkable woman whose presence brought joy and warmth to all who knew her, passed away on November 8, 2024. Born on April 24, 1939, in Hinton, Georgia, to the late Mr. Tom "Red" Evans and Mrs. Florence Sweeney Evans. Betty's journey was one of love, faith, and unwavering generosity.

Betty was married to the love of her life, James Hancock. Together, they raised seven beautiful children and built a life filled with love and cherished memories. Their bond was a testament to true partnership and devotion. Betty's love for music was evident in her talent for playing the piano. She found great joy in going to church, spending time with children, and reading the Bible. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and filling her heart with compassion. A giver by nature, Betty never expected anything in return. Her dedication to attending revivals was a reflection of her deep spiritual commitment. She would take a month off to immerse herself in the spiritual rejuvenation of revivals, and even took a week off work for the same purpose. This dedication speaks volumes about her character and devotion. In her later years, Betty worked at Ellijay, where she became known for her love of cooking and making people happy. Her kitchen was a place of warmth and comfort, where she could express her love through her culinary skills. Betty's legacy is one of love, faith, and selflessness. She touched the lives of many with her kindness, her music, and her unwavering spirit. As we remember Betty today, let us hold onto the memories of her warmth, her generosity, and the love she shared so freely.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James Hancock, parents, daughter, Kathy Easley, son, Jerry Hancock, infant son, Harrold James Hancock, brother, Bill Evans, brother, Emory Evans, sister, Myrtle Duckett.

She is survived by her sons, Robert (Tina) Hancock, Charles Hancock, Richard (Paula) Hancock, Joey Hancock, daughter, Nancy (Perry) Richardson, brothers Jim (Shirley) Evans, James Evans, sisters, Jewell Childers, son-in-law, Terry Easley, sister-in-law Brenda Evans and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Her love extended far and wide, touching the hearts of many generations who adored her deeply.

The family will be receiving friends at Cagle Funeral Home on Saturday, November 9, 2024, from five in the evening until nine at night and Sunday, November 10, 2024, from 2PM til departing to Town Creek at 3:15PM.

Betty's funeral service will be conducted at Town Creek Baptist Church, on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at 4PM in the afternoon with the Revs, Jeremy Mullinax and Jason Hancock officiating. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery.
