Betty Jean
Garrison
Sep 9, 1940 — Mar 5, 2026
Ms. Betty Garrison, age 85, of Talking Rock, Georgia, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2026. She was born on September 9, 1940, in Ball Ground, Georgia.
Betty was married to the love of her life, Huel Garrison, for 32 wonderful years. She was truly one of a kind — a pistol with a sharp wit, always cutting up and full of sarcasm. Beneath that lively spirit was a woman who worked hard her entire life and cared deeply for her family, friends, and every animal she ever met. She loved gardening, camping, and being outdoors. Animals were a constant joy in her life, and her little dog Lilly was her most recent and faithful companion. Betty had a tender heart for all creatures, big or small.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Joe Worley and Mattie Jo Cowart Worley; her husband, Huel Garrison; her brothers, Charles Brunner and Mickey Brunner; and her sister, Brenda Brunner.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Janet (James) Chester; her grandchildren, Shane (Christy) Martin, Tammy (Michael) Roper, Tina (Eddie) Shirley, and Scotty Chester. She will be deeply missed by her 11 great‑grandchildren, 3 great‑great‑grandchildren, and by everyone who knew and loved her.
The family will receive friends at Cagle Funeral Home on Saturday, March 7, 2026, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., and again on Sunday, March 8, 2026, from 11 a.m. until the service hour. Betty's funeral service will be held in the Robert A. Cagle Memorial Chapel on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at 1 p.m., with Chaplain Steve Duvall officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Scotty Chester, Shane Martin, Kolton Martin, Eddie Shirley, Michael Roper, and Tyler Brooks. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
