It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Betty Champion, age 90, of Jasper, Georgia, on January 2, 2025. Betty was born on April 4, 1934, in Jasper, to the late Edgar and Edna Mullinax.

Betty married the love of her life, Hardy, in November 1956. They grew up together as childhood best friends, and their love for one another was evident from the beginning. Together, they raised four beautiful children who were the center of Betty's world. She held her brother and sister close to her heart, and while she was known for her demure nature, Betty fiercely protected her family.

Betty cherished the simple pleasures in life: gardening, cooking, and quilting. She lovingly created quilts for each of her children and grandchildren, leaving behind precious memories stitched with love. Betty dedicated many years to nurturing and guiding the children in her care through her own business, imparting kindness and warmth to every child she encountered. Each one of them held a special place in her heart.

Betty was strong in her faith and devoted to the Lord. She found joy in watching hummingbirds and treasured visits from friends and family. Her generosity and willingness to help others knew no bounds. Betty also enjoyed playing cards and occasional trips to the casino, adding a touch of fun to her life.

A special source of strength and comfort for Betty was her great-granddaughter, Karoline. She always said that Karoline was sent to her by God to help her navigate the hard times and cope with the loss of her two children. Karoline's presence was a true blessing in Betty's life.

Betty's parents, husband, sons, Bo Champion and Eddie Champion, brother, John Mullinax and sister, Grace Weaver awaited her arrival in Heaven.

Betty's loss will be deeply felt by her surviving family, daughters, Sharon Champion, Debbie (Roy) Dobbs, special cousin, Laura Wofford, grandchildren, Jana Champion, Bo Champion, Kayla (Marcus) Kinser, Haley (Michael) Hancock, great grandchild, Karoline Kinser and her daughter in-law, Janice Champion. Her legacy of love, kindness, and faith will forever be remembered by those who knew and loved her. Her gentle spirit and unwavering devotion to her family and faith leave an indelible mark on our hearts.

The family will receive friends at Cagle Funeral Home on Friday January 3, 2025, from noon until nine and Saturday January 4, 2025, from nine in the morning until the service hour.

Betty's funeral service will be conducted in the Robert A. Cagle Memorial Chapel at Cagle Funeral Home on Saturday January 4, 2025, at eleven in the morning with Rev. Jerry Watkins officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jackie Bruce, George W. Weaver Jr., Jim Fields, Eddie Goodwin, Kim Quinton and Joey Mullinax. Honorary pallbearer, Michael Wofford. Interment will follow the service at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
