Obituary

Rev. Ben Howard, Jr., 87, of Dawsonville, Georgia, passed away on May 8, 2026, with his loving wife by his side. He was born on April 28, 1939, in Dahlonega, Georgia to the late Ben and Evie Howard.

Ben grew up working hard alongside his family in the fields and was one of fourteen children. Though he left school early to help at home, he later learned to read in church from the Bible, something that shaped the rest of his life. As a teenager, he felt a clear calling to preach, and from that moment on, he knew his purpose was to share the Word of God.

Before entering ministry full‑time, Ben worked as a carpenter, building with his hands just as faithfully as he built up the people around him. His calling eventually carried him far beyond Georgia. He traveled the world to preach, reaching places such as Africa and Singapore. For more than forty years, he wrote spiritual books and shared his teachings with humility, grace, and a servant’s heart. Ben was known for his gentle spirit and his unwavering devotion to the Lord.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Barbara Howard; brothers, Clifford Howard and Billy Howard; sisters, Joanne and Larry Hayes, and Jeanie Howard; along with many nieces and nephews.

Cagle Funeral Home is honored to serve the Howard family.
