Obituary

Arlene D. Scott, age 85, of the Bent Tree community in Jasper, Georgia, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 5, 2026. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, she was the daughter of Roy and Marguerite Chewing Davis.

Athletic from an early age, Arlene excelled in basketball and proudly served as a majorette at Stone Mountain High School. Arlene and Charles enjoyed bowling in a league for many years. Her love of sports continued throughout her life, especially on the golf course. She was a multi‑year club champion at Bent Tree Golf Course and most recently placed first in the Bent Tree Women’s Niners tournament on Thursday, August 27, 2026. Beyond athletics, Arlene enjoyed a successful career in real estate and cherished traveling with her late husband, Charles Scott—particularly their trips to Jekyll Island and their winters spent playing golf in Florida.

Arlene is survived by her children: Jerri Lynn (James) Forrester; Bob McHan; Denise (Barry) Stanley; Jason Scott; and Jarrod (Susan) Scott. She is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Zachary Seabolt; Jackson Scott; Will Scott; Spencer Scott; Gina (Mason) Reynolds; JoAnna Scott; Jacob (Alexis) Scott; as well as four great‑grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Scott; her sisters, Diane Sanford and Claudia Hardeman; and her son, Gary Lee McHan.

A celebration of Arlene’s and Charles' life is planned for Sunday, September 27, 2026 in Bent Tree, where her spirit, friendships, and love of the game will be remembered fondly.

Cagle Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Arlene D. Scott.
