America Phillip (AP) Childers, age 89, of Fairmount, GA passed away at home on Thursday, June 25, 2026. He was born on February 23, 1937 to Gus and Bonnie Childers.

AP was preceded in death by his parents, Gus and Bonnie Childers, brothers; Fred Childers and Gene Childers, and sister, Claudine Childers.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Shirley Childers, daughter, Karen Childers, son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Amanda Childers, granddaughters; Cindy (Chris) Baker, Whitney Childers, great granddaughters; Savannah(Dalton) Gasaway, Daelyn Baker, and great-great granddaughter, Hollis Gasaway, several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

A funeral service will be conducted for AP at Jerusalem Baptist Church on Sunday, June, 28, 2026 at two o’clock in the afternoon with the Revs. Stacy Smith and Buck Parker officiating. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be: Joel Collis, Noel Collis, Jonah Jones, Chris Baker, Dalton Gasaway, and David Beck.

The family will receive friends at Cagle Funeral Home on Saturday, June 27, 2026 from one o’clock in the afternoon until nine in the evening and again on Sunday, June 28, 2026 from ten o’clock in the morning until one in the afternoon.
